IT World – new helpdesk/technical analyst
By David Winter
Chris
Blemings has joined the CCS family as helpdesk technical analyst in
the CCS IT department. Chris was originally hired on contract to
assist with the XP/Office 2003 rollout in November 2004. He was
instrumental in the successful rollout and brings a wealth of
technical experience to the team. Chris completed his Bachelor
of Applied Technology at SAIT and is looking forward to
starting his career at CCS. He is originally from
Medicine Hat
and enjoys
playing baseball, and golf.
Helpdesk update
As helpdesk
procedures, staff efficiency and user cooperation have improved, the
helpdesk performance (click on first chart at left) has made
progressive improvements over the last 12 months. The average
tickets submitted to the helpdesk is 419/month over the last
year, up from 364/month tickets in the previous year.
Overall, the helpdesk is being utilized more and more and will
continue to grow as other divisions (Hazco) have access to it.
As for turnaround
time, (click on second chart at left) IT has made significant
improvements in this area. We are now achieving turnaround times of
less than one day even though more tickets are being
submitted. I would like to personally thank the helpdesk staff for
achieving these great results.
Furthermore, we are
always looking for ways to improve service through user feedback so
we will be conducting another IT customer service survey. Please
watch for this near the end of August. We hope to have even more
participation this year.
Hazco and CCS network integration
The IT teams of both
Hazco and CCS have been working together on network integration over
the last several months. Recently we completed an E-mail system
upgrade and remote site connections on the Hazco side. The next
phase of this project will be upgrading the CCS environment to allow
for inter-divisional communication and resource sharing (email,
contacts, and communication).
Finance
team changes
By Diane Yuill, controller
The finance team is growing once again with some new faces in the
Calgary
office. Left to right are Jim Hillstead, joining CCS Energy
Services as the divisional controller, Susan Ruttan joining the
corporate reporting group as the corporate accountant and
Fareed Somji joining the corporate systems group as the team leader.
Please feel free to drop by and say hello and introduce yourself.
Leaving the finance group at the end of August to return to the good life
as students are Kevin Philibert and Michael Jones in the accounts
payable department. Thank you for your contributions and best of
luck in your studies! Also making a move is Gwen Steffan in the
corporate systems group. Gwen has recently re-located to the HAZCO
Richmond office but will still function in the corporate systems
role. You should see her shortly as the much anticipated budget
process gets underway.
